So on january 29th, Denmark won the european championship in handball! They unfortunatly lost the finale in the world championship, but being ranked as the second best team in the world, and the best in Europe is not too bad though! By winning the european championship the team is automaticly able to play the Olympics without having to win any other games, as the rest of the worlds team has to. Handball is a very unknown sport in USA, i have figured, but it's kindda like Denmarks pride and national sport and the big games can gather the whole country. This also goes for the rest of Europe and some other countrys in the world where handball is a huge deal. Also both our male and female national danish team is ranked as some of the best in the world! Thats one of the things that makes me a really proud dane!
The game made me miss Denmark a lot, since i really felt that "being danish" feeling, and just saw how it just gathered everyone, and everyone was talking and posting stuff about it!
Heres a video from the last intense minute of the game! (with english commentary too)
Heres a video from the day after they won, where they are back in Denmark and they are standing on the balcony at "rådhuspladsen", and thousands of danes are cheering for them! (go to 00:15)
I watched the game live on my computer and here is a little video from after they won the game, and they are singing the danish national anthem, while holding there trophy - i recorded it from my phone so it's not the best quality! :)
